Lets just say we LOVE Steven Curtis Chapman. Way back in April we saw on the Braves' calendar where we was playing a concert at Turner Field after a game so we decided to plan our annual trip around the concert! We were really excited about seeing him play live as it had been a couple years since we last saw him. Well, really bad weather rolled in right before the concert was set to start. There was not assigned seating & we had managed to get 2nd row seats behind the dugout! After Matt Diaz's brother, Johnnie, played 2 songs and John Smoltz came out to talk, the concert was called off until the weather passed over. One huge thunderstorm later, people went back out & we managed to get third row seating for an amazing and powerful concert. While SCC's band couldn't play, it was just him and his guitar with him pouring his heart out about the tragic death of Maria Sue, his daughter. His stories were amazing & heartfelt. And, you know his music was just grand! It's a concert that I won't ever forget. It was his wife & other daughter's first concert since Maria Sue's death.
Here are SCC's 2 boys, Caleb & Will. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather, the band didn't play. This was them setting up before the storm came through.
This was a very, very special moment for Kevin because John Smoltz, Kevin's all time favorite baseball player introduced Steven Curtis Chapman, who is Kevin's all time favorite singer! It was a really cool experience for us!
