FIELD DAY 2007

Yesterday Myles had field day at school, and it was SO much fun. The day started out with relays. There was jumping in a sack, running to get golf balls out of a pool and into a bucket, dribbling basketballs, moving water via balls, and the usually over with a ball. Myles had a blast. He was pretty tired afterwards. After the relays, we headed inside and had lunch. Hamburgers! Then we headed out for the carnival side of the day. Myles and Ted had a blast. They jumped in inflatables, pulled suckers, went down big slides, ate ice cream, did the cake walk (Myles won so he picked out cupcakes to share with his classmates), and played the ring toss (Ted won a Pepsi). By the end of the day, we were all so tired. What a great day!

Grasshoppers 28 Sand Gnats 25

Well, it finally had to happen, and it did today. We finally lost our first T-ball game today. The boys and girl were matching the other team 5 runs each inning and in the 3rd inning, one of our boys hit a pop up and the other team got a double play to end the inning before we could get our 5 runs. Myles played good. He was over running the ball at pitcher in the beginning of the game, but we finally made a couple outs towards the end. He hit the ball very well and made two awesome slides! Next up for the team is Thursday, when we play the Rivercats.

Great job today Sand Gnats.

Physical Fitness Award

Today Myles received an award at the school's annual physical education program. He received a certificate and medallion for the Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge. What an athlete:) Kevin and I both remember receiving this award as children in grade school and it's awesome to see Myles receive it. His best pal Ted received the award as well. Go boys!

Creative Connor

The poet in Connor came out this evening at the dinner table. Here's his first poem:
Roses are pink
And your feet really stink!

Kevin and I just started laughing when we heard this. We can't wait to see what he comes up with when he's a teenager!

Sand Gnats 30 Storm 27

This past Saturday the Sand Gnats won again. Unfortunately we weren't there due to a previous engagement. We heard that the boys and girl played well. We didn't have enough players so the team had to pick up a couple kids so the league counted the game as a tie. Great job Sand Gnats. The next game will be on Saturday against the Grasshoppers.

Great Granny & Poppy

During our short trip to Virginia, we were able to stop by and visit Kevin's grandparents, who are known to the boys as great granny and poppy. Unfortunately great granny has been in the nursing home for almost three years now so we go there to visit her.
Poppy took the boys out to eat while I was at the shower. Kevin loves to hear old time stories from Poppy, who is 90! We miss them dearly and cherish the time that we get to spend with them.

While I was hosting the baby shower, Kevin and his dad took the boys fishing. Myles caught his first fish. I'm so sad that I missed it. I hate missing firsts, but I guess I can't be there for everything. Connor had a good time too. Looks like they both will be getting fishing poles and tackle boxes when Myles' birthday rolls around. There are tons of places to take them fishing here.

The boys after the game!

Here's a picture of Myles and Connor as soon as we returned to our hotel! I tried to post this with the previous post, but it didn't work!

Eating cotton candy!
What an awesome game. Even though the Braves lost to the Cubs we had a great time. We got to the game about a half hour before the gates opened so when we were finally able to get in, we were able to watch the Braves' batting practice. Myles got a ball during batting practice. He was so excited! The Braves pitcher Tyler Yates threw the ball towards him and another guy caught it and gave it to him. He took it to school today for show and tell!
During the game, it was freezing. We were on the first base side & the wind was coming straight at us. The boys ate hot dogs, peanuts and cotton candy (at $5 a bag!). They decided that they didn't want ice cream because it was so cold. Thanks to Moo Moo for the spending money! After the sixth inning, Connor decided he wanted to go inside. The level that we were on was enclosed and had couches and tvs. So I took him in there and by the time the 7th inning stretch came, he was out and never woke up!

Braves or bust

Tomorrow we'll be heading to Atlanta bright and early so that we can catch the Braves and Cubs game. The boys (daddy included) are so excited. They have been talking about this for weeks and are so glad that tomorrow is the big day. On Friday, we'll head from Atlanta to Kevin's parent's house in Marion, Virginia. I'm throwing my sister-in-law a baby shower on Saturday. We'll be heading home on Sunday. It's a short and sweet trip that we're looking forward to. We just want to give a quick good luck to the Sand Gnats. Unfortunately Myles will be missing his game on Saturday. Just know Sand Gnats that we're thinking of y'all:) Go Sand Gnats.

Funny picture of Connor

Here's a cute picture of Connor. It was taken about a week and a half ago as we were getting ready to go to his preschool. He had an Easter egg hunt that day. He's always being silly!

New haircuts

Both boys had a hair cut today. Connor's bangs are a little short, but they'll grow back. Here they are outside playing this afternoon.

Here are the Easter outifts

So the boys were able to wear their Easter outfits today. It was still kind of chilly here, but not as chilly as last week. Thanks to Nanny & PaPa for sending some money for the boys outfits and shoes! Thanks too to my friend Robin who took our family picture at church. I haven't posted any pictures of us so I thought I'd do so today! Here we are.

Slumber party!

As I went to check on Myles and Connor to see if they were asleep, this is what I saw. They looked so cute and it was such a Kodak moment that I couldn't pass up the opportunity. They are in Myles' room sleeping on the floor. Between both of their rooms, they have 4 beds (Myles has bunk beds & Connor has a trundle bed) and where are they sleeping? On the floor! Maybe this will help them sleep past 6:30 a.m!

Sand Gnats 24 Muckdogs 18

Still undefeated and playing strong! Today's game was the best hitting game for our team so far. The boys and girl played very well. Myles made 3 outs one inning before the other team could get 5 runs so we were so excited for him. Ted nearly caught a fly ball in center field. It was so exciting! Myles hit well today too. He and daddy have been practicing so much in the back yard! Our next game will be in one week, but unfortunately we'll be missing it as we're heading to see the Braves on Thursday and then it's off to Virginia to give Kevin's sister a baby shower! Myles is now officially on his 1st spring break!

Ready to make on an out!

Getting a high 5 from Coach Chris!

Field trip to Partridge Plantation

Myles and Ted

Today Myles and his class went on a field trip to the farm. We had so much fun. The farm had four sections.

The first section the kids were able to ride ponies. Myles loved it. It reminded me so much of our vacation last summer out West. Myles and Ted were able to ride at the same time. They had a look of excitement when it was their turn!

Myles & Ted Myles riding a pony

The second section the kids learned about various farm animals-horses, donkeys, pigs (they even had week old piglets which were adorable), roosters, chickens, and rabbits. Myles was able to feed the chickens.

Next it was off for a hay ride. We rode around looking at pretty wildflowers and saw tons of berries that will be ready for picking soon!

The last section the kids were able to hold baby animals that included a bunny, a duck & a chick. The duck and chick were about a week and a half old. Myles held the bunny but wouldn't hold the duck or chick!

After all of the sections we had a nice picnic and the kids were able to play on a playground and shop in the gift shop! It was a fun filled day.

Sand Gnats 22 Rockhounds 19

Way to go boys and girl. We continued our win streak this evening and we're the only team left that is undefeated. The team made some great plays and had great hits. Myles made an awesome slide on home plate. The white pants will probably definitely be stained!!! It's hard for me to take pictures during the game because I'm the score keeper and also keep order (if you want to call it that!) in the dugout! I'm going to try Saturday to take more pictures. Way to go Sand Gnats!

Honor's Day

Myles & Ted

Myles with his certificate

Myles getting his certificate from Miss Sova

Today was Honor's Day at Myles' school. He was honored for having all A's. I know that sounds crazy, but kindergarten is not what it used to be. Myles has been having spelling tests every Friday since January. He's really learning a lot, and he has a GREAT teacher, Miss Sova. Here he is getting his certificate. The kids usually wear uniforms but today was a dress down day. Myles and Ted wore their baseball uniforms!
