Report card

Myles received his report card in the mail yesterday, and he made all As and S's for conduct and P.E. We recently learned that Krispy Kreme donuts rewards kids 1 donut for every A and S so it looks like Myles will be treating the family to donuts!

Rain delay

The rematch between the Sand Gnats and Grasshoppers has been delayed until Friday night due to heavy rain. This is the first time in months that it has rained here. We see the delay as a blessing because one of our players is out of town until tomorrow and Ted is sick. I had made signs for the game and bought some balloons for decorations. I doubt the balloons will still have the helium in them on Friday, but we'll get some more. Watch out Grasshoppers because the Sand Gnats will be ready on Friday!

Happy 8th Anniversary

Today Kevin and I celebrated our 8th anniversary. We spent the day at work and then the evening at t-ball practice! We did go out to eat at 2 Dollar Bills, and both boys were fairly well behaved, which was a treat in and of itself. I'm working on a special post about our anniversary that I hope to post this weekend. Between the trip to the gulf and baseball, I haven't had much free time. It has definitely been a great 8 years, and I look forward to many more great years!

Fun at Summer Camp

Arriving at day camp!
Playing pool this morning!Leaving day camp with my art project!
Our friend's daughter, Emily!
Today Myles started his summer day camp. It's at our church, and he'll be going 3 days a week. He had so much fun today. Since it's the first week and he will be learning about orientation we're sending him 4 days. Ted is going too so Myles is excited about seeing him. He told me that he saw 2 kids that were in his preschool class at Nazarene. On Wednesdays he'll be going on a field trip. On Thursdays he'll be going skating and Fridays, he'll be going bowling. Sounds like lots of fun! Here are a couple pictures that I took this morning and this afternoon.

Fun at the beach

The boys had a blast playing at the beach. Connor's swimming trunks kept falling down no matter how many times we tied his string. We finally figured out the problem- he must have had 10 pounds of sand in this pockets! It was so funny. Myles had sand in his too, but he didn't seem to have the same problem as Connor.

Fishing

The boys tried out their new fishing poles this weekend but didn't have much luck. They didn't catch anything, but everyone around us was catching something with nearly every throw! The boys didn't seem to mind because they liked throwing out the fishing line!

Golfing

Taking the boys goofy golfing was quite an adventure. Our clown Connor managed to lose his ball on the 3rd whole- we weren't surprised at all! Connor has a fairly good swing and put. At one point, Myles was putting like Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore!

Bon Secour

Saturday afternoon we went for a hike through the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. It was a nice hike, and the boys really enjoyed it as well. At one point, they were able to throw rocks in the water, which they LOVED!

Camping Trip

Getting ready to leave!
Saturday we left for Gulf Shores for the Memorial Day weekend. We had a blast. We were able to do a lot of things. We went hiking, fishing, swimming, goofy golfing, go cart riding, & bike riding.

Getting a medal!

Today the Sand Gnats received medals since it was the last game of the season. Myles was really excited because he's beginning to have a nice collection of medals!

Grasshoppers 25 Sand Gnats 24

What a close one today. We lost by one run to a team that we haven't been able to beat this year. We play them again on Wednesday in the playoffs. We have to beat them to stay alive & play for the championship on Friday. Myles played good today. He actually threw the ball from the pitcher's mound to make an out! We've really been working with him on that! Great job Sand Gnats. Up next will be the Grasshoppers again on Wednesday.

Kindergarten Pictures

This is Myles & Miss Sova on his first day of school. Doesn't he look so cute?

This is actually what Myles wore today at school. I wanted to get a picture of him dressed like he was on his first day of school and his last day of school. He is so excited to be out for the summer. Summer camp here comes Myles!

Last day of school

First day of school and last day of school!

Today was Myles last day of kindergarten. I don't even know where to start this post. It was such a bittersweet day today. We absolutely love Myles' teacher and are so sad to know that he's moved on to first grade. He learned so much in her class. She was so good with the kids. I am so thankful for all of the time that she allowed me to spend in the classroom and on field trips. We received the sweetest letter from her. She is moving on to a special needs school, which is her specialty. Thankfully the new school will be next door & she's told us that we can visit! Myles received a certificate today for perfect attendance for the school year! Way to go Myles.

Adventure at work!

Yesterday I experienced my very first bomb threat! As a state employee, we have drills to prepare us for threats, but yesterday was the real deal. The call came in around 9:10 a.m. A man called the office that handles welfare assistance (I work in the child support division), which is located on the second floor of the building, and was mad that his wife's case was closed and said that the office had 30 minutes to leave the building because he had placed a bomb outside. Since we interview clients Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we had a room full of clients. Our supervisor is in Europe and the program manager is out of the office so that made it even better! We managed to get all of the clients out of the building as well as all of the employees and we got to sit outside for an hour! I wasn't in my office so I didn't get to grab anything. Too bad I didn't have my wallet because we were standing in the parking lot next to Toys R Us and I could have gone shopping to pass the time! Of course, there was no bomb, but the police and fire departments had to check everything out. It was definitely quite an experience!

Sand Gnats 25 Storm 18

Go Sand Gnats. Add another win in the win column. The boys and girl played well again tonight, and it looks like we'll be making the playoffs! We're not sure if we're the #2 or #3 seed yet, but we'll know after our game Saturday. Myles played well again tonight. He caught a pop up so his dad owes him another ice cream treat! We really need to work on him throwing the ball to first base because he's been trying to run the kids down even when the coach tells him to throw the ball! He threw it a couple of times. He hit the ball very well tonight too and ran the bases well. Kudos to Ted for the home run tonight! Up next will be the Grasshoppers on Saturday (the only team that we haven't beat yet!)

Sand Gnats 15 Muckdogs 14

The Sand Gnats are back! What an awesome game today. It was definately the best defensive played game all year. We made a lot of outs-19 in all! Not bad for a 6 inning game! Myles caught another line drive today. It was great. He didnt' make a double play, but he came very close. He went to first base first intead of second base. He hit the winning run in too. We batted last and only needed 1 run to win and the bases were loaded. He made a great hit to get a run in. Everyone played great. Up next for the Sand Gnats will be the Storm on Tuesday evening.

No Boys Tonight!

Already asleep? That would be a negative!
Connor in his sleeping bag
Being silly!
Ted is staying the night with us tonight, & I've managed to get the house alone with Carleigh. Carleigh and I are hanging out in the house without boys! Kevin popped up the camper this evening and he & the 3 boys are in the backyard camping! I've opened the back door several times only to hear giggles and laughter! I love it. (I'm not sure what the neighbors think, but thankfully one set is out of town!) It's priceless.
Update: We ended up the evening one boy short because Ted called his mom around 9:45 and asked to come home! The last time he stayed the night he stayed the whole night. Maybe next time!

Happy Birthday Aunt Kimmie!

Just wanted to give a quick happy birthday to Aunt Kimmie. Today is my sister's birthday. Connor spent the night with her last night, & I heard that he was wishing her a happy birthday at 4:18 a.m. Connor just loves his Aunt Kimmie!

Tonight was the night of Connor's end of the year program, Little Bo Peep. It was so cute. Connor did great. He was Georgie Porgie boy. He chased Georgie Porgie around the stage, which is right up his alley! I've finally decided that it looks like we're going to have the class clown in Connor. Every afternoon that I pick him up his class is playing on the playground. Once he gets into the van, he HAS to honk the horn & makes all the kids laugh! He loves it. His class also recited things that they have learned throughout the year like Bible verses, counting, & rhymes. Next year will be very hard for us when Connor graduates. We love the preschool that he goes to. Hope that you enjoy the pictures. We're still learning how the new camera works so some of the photos aren't very clear!

The next Cat Osterman???

Our niece, Carleigh, spent the afternoon today playing with the boys. They decided to play baseball, and when I heard this I dashed for the camera. You see this is the very first time I have ever seen her play a sport! She is a girlie girl if you know what I mean. I just had to quit cooking dinner and grab the camera for the Kodak moment!

Kindergarten Graduation

Myles & Miss Sova
Myles & Mrs. Brown
Myles receiving his diploma!
Kevin, Jolene & Myles
Good looking boys (Ted & Myles!)
Today was the big day for Myles. He has officially graduated kindergarten! He still has 7 more days of school left, but he had his ceremony this morning. The kids sang songs, received diplomas, and the parents were treated to a slide show. It was really sweet. It's so hard to believe that he's almost a first grader. It seems like just yesterday that we were taking him to his first day of school! We have been so blessed to have had such an awesome teacher, Miss Sova, this year. And, Miss Sova had the best classroom helper in Mrs. Brown. We could not have asked for better teachers for Myles. He loves them both very dearly!

Art Show.....and P.T.A. board member?????

Ted & Myles at the art show!
Myles' art project!
Tonight Myles and I attended the celebrating arts program at his school and somehow I ended up being Financial Secretary for the P.T.A. More on that in a second. Myles entered into the art show. He did his drawing based on a nursery rhyme he learned in preschool. It had a monkey swinging on a tree & an alligator trying to get the monkey. His classmate, Solly, won the overall K5 award! Great job Solly. Now about the P.T.A board. The school was electing officers and I was telling Christine (Ted's mom) that I wanted to be more involved with the P.T.A so I guess I got what I wanted! I think that it will be fun, and I'm looking forward to serving as best that I can in my position (even though I'm not too sure what all it entails!) Myles sure was excited. Here are a couple pictures from tonight.
