Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel

Here are a few pictures of what we've been doing around the house lately! We finally added paint to the stark white kitchen & kind of went with a Cafe/Bistro theme. I still have a couple little things to do, but the majority of painting is finished. We installed new hinges and handles on the cabinets too. As far as the bathroom goes, we changed it from SpongeBob to a safari theme. The boys love it so much. And it goes with the tile much better than SpongeBob ever did! Now if I can just get Kevin to let me buy a new kitchen table I'd be all finished (for right now)!

Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday Myles

What a great day we have had. It's hard to believe that 6 years ago today that Myles came into the world on Mother's Day. What a blessing he is to us. Time has really flown by. This morning we gave Myles the rest of his birthday presents, and then they gave me my mother's day gift. I was only expecting handmade crafts and a present that Myles had brought home from school. He was so proud of it, and I LOVED it. Myles has the best teacher in the world, Miss Sova. Then to my surprise the boys had bought me a new digital camera. I was in shock, and I'm still in shock because I was not expecting it! It's a Canon PowerShot SD750. I've been using it alot today and can't wait to use it this week. We have a busy week with both boys having graduation ceremonies at school. Connor isn't graduating from preschool this year, but he is in the program, Little Bo Peep. I'm sure he is to bring tons of laughter to the program!

Hooks 17 Sand Gnats 10

The birthday boys!
Getting a hit!
And, he's safe!

Uh oh. We've now lost two games in a row. Our chances on the playoffs are slipping away. We're still in second place, but we have to win the rest of our games to stay in second place. Myles played good today and he hit the ball very well. He made a few outs playing pitcher. After the game, we celebrated Myles, Dylan & Alex's birthday. I picked up some cupcakes that were shaped like a baseball glove and ball. Today was Myles' last game as a 5 year old as he'll be the big 6 tomorrow! Next up for the Sand Gnats will be the Muckdogs next Saturday!

Good Citizenship and Best Speller Award

Yesterday Myles' school had Awards Day. Myles received the citizenship award in his class along with two other classmates. He also received a best speller award. We're so proud of him. It's so hard to believe that he's almost a first grader. He only has 10 days of school left. Where has the year gone?

The most anticipated present of all......Healys!

Here Myles is with his much anticipated present of all...his Healys. He has been asking for them since Christmas, and he finally got them. He was so excited. I don't think that we'll be able to get them off of him for a long time! A big THANK YOU to Moo Moo!

Opening presents

Here Myles is opening his presents. He received a lot of nice things. I tried to take a picture of him with each friend, but unfortunately I missed a couple kids. He will be spending all afternoon tomorrow writing thank you notes!

Myles' birthday party

Today we had Myles' 6th birthday party at the skating rink. Since his actual birthday is on Mother's Day, we decided to have his party a week early. He had a blast. He had friends come from school and his baseball team and of course a few cousins! This was our first birthday party that was not at our house. It was by far the easiest party that I've ever planned and also the most economical one too! Here he is skating and eating with his friends. We had pizza, chips, cake and ice cream!

Alex's birthday party

Saturday after our game, I took Myles, Ted and Noah to Alex's 6th birthday party at Pump it Up. The boys had blast. I don't know where they get all of the energy, but you could not tell that they had baseball game a few hours earlier! I didn't get a good shot of Alex, but here are a few pictures of some Sand Gnats in street clothes!

Playing a prank on Coach Chris

Tonight, Myles is having his best pal Ted over for his first ever sleep over. When their coach heard this, he told them not to toilet paper his house (he lives in our neighborhood). Well we decided to ride to his house this evening and "roll" his mailbox. They had a blast. Myles still thinks that the police are coming after him! It was so cute. Here are the boys in action (they did the posing on their own!)

Rockhounds 25 Sand Gnats 24

What an awesome game today. Although we lost by one run, it was definitely the best game we've played all year long. I think that Myles made the play of the year, if not, one of the best plays in the league this year. We needed to hold the other team to four runs so we could have our last chance to tie and the other team had the bases loaded with one out and their best hitter was at the plate. He hits a line drive to the pitcher's mound, and Myles caught it! He then ran and touched the runner on third who had tried to run home. He made a double play! I'm still in shock. I've never been so proud of him as I was today. He was awesome. And I'm so thankful that his grandparents from Virginia were in town to see him catching his first fly ball! Every practice he asks his coach over and over for fly balls! Way to go Sand Gnats. Next up for the Sand Gnats will be the Hooks next Saturday.

Myles looking at his first crush

PRICELESS!

Here's where we found Myles and Ted after the game last night. He was watching his first crush, Catherine!

Pictures from last night

Here are the photos from last night. It was a really good game. I added a picture of Connor. He usually plays around during the game or hangs out in the dugout! Myles hit the ball very well. One at bat the bases were loaded and with one hit, Myles cleaned them! Andrew hit a grand slam last night! You should have seen him running around 3rd base. He was waving at his family. I wish I would have had my camera ready! The next game will be tomorrow against the Rockhounds, whose only loss was to us!

Sand Gnats 25 River Cats 19

We pulled out a win last night against the River Cats. The boys and girl played well. I'll update the post this evening with pictures and more comments. I managed to sneak in a Kodak moment when I caught Myles watching a girls softball game. Ted's mom told me that a girl from school was playing and Myles has a crush on her! She's in 5th grade. Boy does his daddy have some talking to do:)

FIELD DAY 2007

Yesterday Myles had field day at school, and it was SO much fun. The day started out with relays. There was jumping in a sack, running to get golf balls out of a pool and into a bucket, dribbling basketballs, moving water via balls, and the usually over with a ball. Myles had a blast. He was pretty tired afterwards. After the relays, we headed inside and had lunch. Hamburgers! Then we headed out for the carnival side of the day. Myles and Ted had a blast. They jumped in inflatables, pulled suckers, went down big slides, ate ice cream, did the cake walk (Myles won so he picked out cupcakes to share with his classmates), and played the ring toss (Ted won a Pepsi). By the end of the day, we were all so tired. What a great day!

Grasshoppers 28 Sand Gnats 25

Well, it finally had to happen, and it did today. We finally lost our first T-ball game today. The boys and girl were matching the other team 5 runs each inning and in the 3rd inning, one of our boys hit a pop up and the other team got a double play to end the inning before we could get our 5 runs. Myles played good. He was over running the ball at pitcher in the beginning of the game, but we finally made a couple outs towards the end. He hit the ball very well and made two awesome slides! Next up for the team is Thursday, when we play the Rivercats.

Great job today Sand Gnats.

Physical Fitness Award

Myles & P.E. Teacher, Mrs. Reusser
Myles getting his award
Ted & Myles
Today Myles received an award at the school's annual physical education program. He received a certificate and medallion for the Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge. What an athlete:) Kevin and I both remember receiving this award as children in grade school and it's awesome to see Myles receive it. His best pal Ted received the award as well. Go boys!

Creative Connor

The poet in Connor came out this evening at the dinner table. Here's his first poem:
Roses are pink
And your feet really stink!

Kevin and I just started laughing when we heard this. We can't wait to see what he comes up with when he's a teenager!

Sand Gnats 30 Storm 27

This past Saturday the Sand Gnats won again. Unfortunately we weren't there due to a previous engagement. We heard that the boys and girl played well. We didn't have enough players so the team had to pick up a couple kids so the league counted the game as a tie. Great job Sand Gnats. The next game will be on Saturday against the Grasshoppers.

Great Granny & Poppy

During our short trip to Virginia, we were able to stop by and visit Kevin's grandparents, who are known to the boys as great granny and poppy. Unfortunately great granny has been in the nursing home for almost three years now so we go there to visit her.
Poppy took the boys out to eat while I was at the shower. Kevin loves to hear old time stories from Poppy, who is 90! We miss them dearly and cherish the time that we get to spend with them.

First time fishing

Our first fish
Check out the concentration!
Myles fishing
Pa Pa and the boys!

While I was hosting the baby shower, Kevin and his dad took the boys fishing. Myles caught his first fish. I'm so sad that I missed it. I hate missing firsts, but I guess I can't be there for everything. Connor had a good time too. Looks like they both will be getting fishing poles and tackle boxes when Myles' birthday rolls around. There are tons of places to take them fishing here.

The boys after the game!

Here's a picture of Myles and Connor as soon as we returned to our hotel! I tried to post this with the previous post, but it didn't work!

Braves game

The Stoots Waiting for the gates to open
Daddy's favorite player, John Smoltz
Mommy's favorite, Dale Murphy
Myles and his ball
Tyler Yates
Eating a hot dog!
Connor doing the Tomahawk Chop!
Eating cotton candy!
What an awesome game. Even though the Braves lost to the Cubs we had a great time. We got to the game about a half hour before the gates opened so when we were finally able to get in, we were able to watch the Braves' batting practice. Myles got a ball during batting practice. He was so excited! The Braves pitcher Tyler Yates threw the ball towards him and another guy caught it and gave it to him. He took it to school today for show and tell!
During the game, it was freezing. We were on the first base side & the wind was coming straight at us. The boys ate hot dogs, peanuts and cotton candy (at $5 a bag!). They decided that they didn't want ice cream because it was so cold. Thanks to Moo Moo for the spending money! After the sixth inning, Connor decided he wanted to go inside. The level that we were on was enclosed and had couches and tvs. So I took him in there and by the time the 7th inning stretch came, he was out and never woke up!
